Creamy Custard Oatmeal Bowl (Print)

# Ingredients:

→ Oatmeal Base

01 - 50 g quick-cooking rolled oats
02 - 120 ml water
03 - pinch fine salt

→ Custard Enrichment

04 - 1 large egg, whisked
05 - 80 ml cold water
06 - 1 teaspoon vanilla bean paste or pure vanilla extract (optional)

# Steps:

01 - Place quick-cooking oats, 120 ml water, and a pinch of salt into a medium pot. Set over medium-high heat and begin stirring continuously.
02 - Stir constantly until the mixture thickens and becomes creamy, and most water is absorbed, about 4 minutes.
03 - Reduce heat to low. Pour in 80 ml very cold water and whisked egg. Immediately and vigorously whisk to blend into the oatmeal until it thickens with a custard-like texture, about 1 minute.
04 - Remove from heat and stir in vanilla bean paste or pure vanilla extract, if using.
05 - Transfer the oatmeal to a serving bowl. Garnish with fruit, seeds, or desired toppings. Serve immediately.

# Notes:

01 - Adding cold water before the egg prevents curdling by lowering the temperature of the oats.
02 - For traditional rolled oats, increase water to ensure proper consistency as they require a longer cooking time.
