Greek Chicken Lemon Gyros (Print)

Tender chicken marinated in lemon and herbs, served in pita with tzatziki, fresh veggies, and Mediterranean flair.

# Ingredients:

→ Chicken and Marinade

01 - 450 g chicken breast
02 - 2 tablespoons olive oil
03 - 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
04 - 2 cloves garlic, minced
05 - 1 teaspoon dried oregano
06 - 1 teaspoon fine sea salt
07 - 0.5 teaspoon ground black pepper

→ For Serving

08 - 4 gluten-free pita breads
09 - 250 ml tzatziki sauce
10 - 100 g chopped lettuce
11 - 75 g diced tomatoes
12 - 30 g thinly sliced red onion

# Steps:

01 - In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, minced garlic, dried oregano, sea salt, and black pepper. Whisk until well blended.
02 - Slice chicken breast into strips. Add to the marinade, ensuring all pieces are evenly coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
03 - Preheat a grill pan or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove chicken from marinade, shaking off excess. Cook chicken strips for 5–7 minutes per side or until golden and cooked through.
04 - Place pita breads on the grill or skillet and warm for about 1 minute per side until soft and heated.
05 - Layer cooked chicken, tzatziki sauce, chopped lettuce, diced tomatoes, and sliced red onion onto each pita bread.
06 - Fold pitas around the fillings and serve immediately while warm.

01 - For enhanced flavor, marinate chicken overnight in the refrigerator.
02 - Serve with additional tzatziki sauce or add toppings such as feta cheese or olives for variety.
