Crispy Chicken Caesar Sandwich (Print)

Crispy chicken meets tangy Caesar, fresh romaine, and crusty bread for a flavor-packed sandwich experience.

# Ingredients:

→ For the crispy chicken

01 - 2 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
02 - 240 millilitres buttermilk
03 - 120 grams all-purpose flour
04 - 1 teaspoon garlic powder
05 - 1 teaspoon onion powder
06 - 1 teaspoon paprika
07 - 1 teaspoon salt
08 - 0.5 teaspoon black pepper
09 - Vegetable oil, for frying

→ For the Caesar dressing

10 - 120 millilitres mayonnaise
11 - 2 tablespoons lemon juice
12 - 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
13 - 1 clove garlic, minced
14 - 25 grams grated Parmesan cheese
15 - Salt and pepper, to taste

→ For assembly

16 - 4 slices crusty bread, such as ciabatta or sourdough
17 - 2 cups chopped romaine lettuce
18 - 25 grams additional grated Parmesan cheese
19 - Optional: sliced tomatoes
20 - Optional: crispy bacon

# Steps:

01 - Place chicken breasts in a bowl with buttermilk. Cover and refrigerate for at least 60 minutes, or up to overnight, to tenderize.
02 - In a shallow dish, combine flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Remove chicken from buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge chicken in the seasoned flour mixture, coating evenly.
03 - Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet to 175°C. Carefully fry breaded chicken for 5 to 7 minutes per side, or until golden brown and internal temperature reaches 75°C. Transfer to a plate lined with paper towels to drain and let rest.
04 - In a medium bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, lemon juice, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and 25 grams grated Parmesan until smooth. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
05 - Toast bread slices until golden and crisp on the surface.
06 - Spread Caesar dressing generously on one side of each toasted bread slice. Layer chopped romaine lettuce on two bread slices. Place fried chicken on top of lettuce, adding sliced tomatoes or crispy bacon if desired. Sprinkle with additional grated Parmesan. Close sandwiches with remaining bread slices, dressing side down, and press gently to adhere.
07 - Slice sandwiches in half diagonally and serve immediately while warm.

01 - To enhance flavour, fresh parsley or basil may be stirred into the dressing.
02 - Grilled chicken may be substituted for a lighter variation.
